Through EJAN, science experts can connect with communities who are looking for volunteers on specific environmental justice efforts. You’ll also hear stories from UCS Science Network members about their journeys toward forming trust-based partnerships with environmental justice communities in Massachusetts. And we want to hear from you about training and capacity building opportunities that would support your engagement with EJ communities.
Webinar: Supporting Environmental Justice in Massachusetts through Scientist-Community Partnerships
Friday, December 6 12:00 - 1:00 pm Virtual (Zoom) Register here!
We will feature a panel of speakers to share their experiences of partnerships, best practices and advice. Our goal is to encourage discussion and group learning about how scientists can be supported to engage with EJ communities. Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for the Environmental Justice Assistance Network during the webinar.
An earlier iteration of this network operated from 1994-2015. In collaboration with Slingshot, Conservation Law Foundation, and the Boston University School of Public Health, ACE relaunched this program last May.
Massachusetts has made progress on climate and environmental goals in recent years, but still has a long way to go when it comes to ensuring that communities overburdened by environmental harms are centered in the fight for justice. Scientists and experts have a key role to play by forming trust-based partnerships with environmental justice communities to collectively shape better outcomes.
Please register today and we hope to see you there. |
