Virtual Meeting: Reducing Building Emissions

Do you live in a large building in Boston? Want to help design policy for reducing fossil fuel use and emissions?

ACE is a partner in "Residents Building Policy," a series of meetings enabling people to help shape the environmental rules for large buildings. There will be three virtual meetings, and you can receive a stipend of $120 for participating.

You can also register directly at this link.

This event is especially for people who live in buildings with 35+ apartments or 35,000+ sq ft, ideally in Allston-Brighton and Chinatown. Interpretation will be provided in Spanish, Cantonese, Russian, and Cape Verdean Creole.

In Boston, almost 50% of fossil fuel emissions come from the largest buildings -over 35,000 sqft. And many of the largest residential buildings in Boston are in Allston-Brighton and Chinatown. This is deeply tied to the air pollution that hits Black and Brown neighborhoods hardest in Boston.

This initiative is aiming to understand what would most benefit people who live in these large buildings, as we help these buildings cut emissions. This will make a big impact on climate change, your energy bills, and you and your family’s health.

Meanwhile, ACE is continuing our work to ensure that new building projects use Passive House or LEED Platinum standards, so we can keep our air clean while fighting against displacement for our community in Roxbury.
