Dear ,

The good folks at GreenRoots need our help. They’ve been allies in our fight for environmental justice for 25 years, based in Chelsea. Now, they’re in the final stages of a fight to prevent Eversource from building an “idiotic” electrical substation from being built in East Boston.

Boston’s Conservation Commission is taking a final vote on this project on Nov. 4th. Tell Mayor Walsh and the conservation commission to oppose this project.

This would be a giant high-voltage installation in Eagle Hill, a neighborhood already facing environmental injustice. It’s burdened with massive jet fuel containers for Logan Airport and much of New England’s heating oil -- plus giant piles of road salt. It would sit across the street from a playground, basketball courts, and a ballfield.

On top of that, this is a working class immigrant community with disproportionately high rates of COVID infections. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, the project isn’t even needed based on electricity demand.

While our roots are in Roxbury, we’ve got to show up and fight for environmental justice wherever it's needed. Send Mayor Walsh a letter now. We’ve got sample text for you and it only takes a minute or two.

Send a Letter

Thank you.
